this page will give you an insight into some new features that
are now available on the myherefordshire.com portal, so check back
regularly !
tag cloud - august 08
we are currently investigating the use of tag clouds. These are
visual depictions of words or phrases, and we have started by
showing the most
popular search terms used on myherefordshire.com. The bigger
the size of a word, then the more popular it is, and to ensure the
page is still accessible, the weighting is given in the title tag
of the links. Please do let us know what you think.
social networking - july 08
you may notice there is a new feature on the left-hand side of
each page on myherefordshire.com
. We are starting to implement a number of
social networking and interactive features, the first of which
is a method of bookmarking individual pages on
myherefordshire.com. Social Bookmarking is a way for you to
collect links to your favourite web resources so that they are
easily available anywhere in the world. You can also then
share these bookmarks with others if you wish. The button we
have provided gives you a quick and easy way to add your pages
to your chosen Social Bookmark account. Have ago and let us
know what you think.
getting involved competition - april 08
are you involved with a charitable or non-profit organisation ?
do you have a website ? not yet working with myherefordshire.com ?
then why not enter our new 'getting involved' competition and
possibly win a top-of-the-line Pocket PC....(This competition has
now finished)
youth zone - april 08
the release of our new
youth zone is
a major development for us. Initially the zone will encompass the
14-19 prospectus and our new positive activities section, but we
intend to build on the zone and create a comprehensive information
resource for young people.
This is a searchable database of activities tailored
specifically for the 13 to 19 age group, and it is designed to
increase the range of activities available to our Herefordshire
young people. To gather the activities, we have been working with a
number of providers and have many more to come in the following
months, but if you organise events and activities for young people,
then get in touch or add you events to myherefordshire. If you
specify an age group in the main events section, then if
appropriate your events will also be made available in the youth
zone. Any ideas or
comments on this new section would be most welcomed.
who's who - april 08
we have just finished development of the Herefordshire Who's Who
directory on myherefordshire.com. This will be the definitive guide
to Community Development workers in the county and will enable
anyone to find the Community Development worker most able to help
them. It will also enable Community Development workers to signpost
to other workers or agencies easily as well as improve networking.
The Who's Who Guide is a fully searchable database, enabling
searches on various categories including first name, last name,
geographical area of work, postcode, organisation name and work
type categories.
The first stage of the directory is to enable individual
Community Development workers to create an account in which they
can create their own Who's Who Directory profile and update it as
necessary. This will ensure that the guide is always up to date,
and then when we have a good number of profiles, we will enable the
search interface.
If you are a Community Development Worker, then
register with
myherefordshire.com, wait for your registration confirmation email,
then login,
and following a link from the bottom of your 'myprofile' page you
can create your Who's Who profile.
the big picture - march 08
if you haven't heard of it yet, the Big Picture is a project to
create the biggest photo album in the West Midlands. Everyone can
add their favourite pictures - family, friends, local landmarks,
even your pets, and it is really easy to share your photos and tell
the stories behind them. myherefordshire.com is supporting the
initiative so have a look at our Big Picture
page and then why not submit some pictures of your own.

do you have a parish, village, group/club website? You can now
have an interactive graph of your parishes carbon footprint. This
graph, and your parish average will change as more and more people
complete their personal footprint. See the

Environment Group's website to see them in action. Want to
see how your neighbouring parishes are doing ?? Visit the
statistics
page and you can choose any parish to see their average. So
spread the word and try to drive down your parish average.

search for courses within Herefordshire that are available for all
14-19 year olds. Access the prospectus and use the tabs to search
